Annual General Meeting 2007

Finn Valley AC, founded in 1971, held their A.G.M. on Thursday night, 11th October.

As is usual in recent years, officer reports indicated a busy, exciting and challenging year in which the executive, coaches and athletes responded with enthusiasm. The net effect is a vibrant club contributing to our community and indeed to the wider area as a competition coaching and event venue for not alone athletics but a variety of activities.

The outgoing chairman Patsy Mc Gonagle in his report dealt with the year at three levels: the athletics, the centre and the future. He pointed out a number of challenges ahead in a changing society. He cautioned regarding adapting our normal approach to facilitate the modern soft attitude, indicating that should the club go down that road we would acheive very little. He was loud in his praise for those who continue to work towards maintaining a strong club ethos and work ethic highlighted success, committment, organisation particularly the primary schools programme. The website www.finnvalleyac.com has gone from strength to strength and is likely to receive in excess of 200000 hits for October. He thanked Jonathan Campbell, webmaster.

Outgoing treasurer Neil Martin and Ciaran O Donnell returned a busy financial outlay while Bernie Alcorn had a detailed outline relevant to juvenile affairs. P R O Niall Mc Gonagle expressed his thanks to local media outlets and again referred to the website.

Finally Rosaleen Mc Gonagle, registrar, gave an excellent report on membership and Mark Connolly gave an update on club records.
