Ian Ward Takes Bronze for Royal and Prior
Ian Ward had an early morning start for Loughrea to
take in Irish Schools cross-country championships.
Overnight rain had made it
difficult going and once again he kicked into the bronze position.
A similar scenario to the previous week if less dramatic with Murphy and
Mulcaire up ahead.
And so a period of recovery and training in the
Algarve awaits as school takes a break and onwards to world
cross-country.
In competition also over the weekend was James Mc Intyre in the
Ballycotton 10 miler in which he finished 10th from 1000 starters his
time 54-17 second master across the line. He certainly has found new
enthusiasm in recent months also competing last weekend in the Adare 10k
where he returned 33-07.
Valencia
Across in Valencia where Patsy Mc Gonagle was managing Irish team some
ten Valley supporters were in attendance taking in some world class
athletics. Good to meet up with Richard, Marian and Grainne. Ciaran
has hundreds of class photos of the event.
Coming Weekend
This weekend the remaining Ulster AAI under age indoor qualifier goes
ahead at new facility Magherafelt with 31 Valley athletes confirmed to
go.
Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to Noreen Mc Gonagle on the death of her mother
Ellen. May she rest in peace.
On a completely different sport. Congratulationss to Finn Valley boxer Jason
Quigley who won his national title in convincing manner last Saturday in the
National stadium.
