Valley youngsters impress at Magherafelt Juvenile Indoors
In the ongoing development of any club it's always noteworthy and
encouraging to witness young talent athletes arrive on the scene and
record their first victories.
At Magherafelt on Saturday the
victories of Oisin Gallen in long jump, Kyle Long, high jump, Blaithnaid
Patton, high jump, and medal performances from Jonathan Carlin, Caoimhe
Mc Menamin, Shannon Mc Laughlin, Georgie Kelly, and Gavin Mc Laughlin
sent
the coaching staff home in a happy mood.
In addition we know that
Caoimhe Mc Menamin has the potential to make a major impact in the hurdles
in the summer months.
Breda Mc Ginty had a double victory in the
800/1500 and was delighted with herself and now just needs to bring this to
the Nationals. Everybody is really pleased for Breda as she continues to
overcome injury. She never give up and
her remaining consistent presence at training including Sunday
mornings speaks volumes.
The club are most grateful to the coaches
who travelled on Saturday.
St Patrick's weekend saw Sean Gallagher step out and test the water in
the Letterkenny 5k and finish 4th while Gloria Donaghy time was just 1
sec off her pb.
Attention now switches to National Indoors for the young brigade and
to Ian Ward at Edinburgh for the world cross-country.
Then the clocks move forwards and we have the preparation for primary school
athletics and all things track and field outdoors.
Local primary school
dates are May 13/14 with county finals late May.
Next week 80 youngsters
have signed uo for a week's activity camp. Places still available
0749132053 for boys/girls 6 yrs and older.
