Valley at Athenry and University championships
There were medal performances for two Finn Valley athletes at opposite
ends of the spectrum over the weekend with Nicola Alcorn, now a student
at DCU, finishing 3rd in the University track and field at Irishtown,
Dublin. This sets her up for the national league and under 23
championships in the weeks
ahead.
Jim Hynes has a long association with the club and picked up a
bronze in category 7 of the masters in the AAI 10k where Darren Mc
Neely 34-45, Drew Doherty 36-43, Tommy Thompson a lifetime best 37-18,
and Jim's time 46-56.
The next priority the North West 10k is the local
focus May 4th.
THe numbers continue to increase at training and to repeat the request
new adult helpers would be most welcome. The walking group
on Tuesday and Thursday continues to attract enthusiastic participants with a
7-30 start open to beginners and various standards.
Best Wishes for a speedy recovery to James Mc Intyre wife who had an
accident recently.
We are all keeping our fingers crossed for Joe Byrne who is going well
in training in the U.S. and opens his season next weekend in a
steeplechase at Ohio State.
