8th Annual Invitational Cross Country
The 8th annual Finn Valley secondary school cross country proved to be the biggest and the best despite overnight weather conditions that did not help underfoot conditions. Close to 600 students from 27 schools in the general area competed and again the event was well received by the sports teachers many of whom commenting on the timely nature of the programme in the scheme of the academic year. Winners at individual and team level were keenly contested and if anything it underlines the gap that exists for further development at schools level throughout.
Excellent gold medal performances from Kathleen McGinty (St Columbas) Karl Griffin (Abbey), Sarah Moore (Sacred Heart), Ruairi Finnegan (St Eunans) who led a 1234 from his school, Emma Rice,Joe Collins and Fionnuala Ross (all Dungannon,Integrated). Finally yet another excellent run from Cian O Reilly (St Pats) in senior boys.
Schools participating were Errigal College, Holy Cross, Dean McGurk, Portora, Milford Loreto, Crana College, St Michaels, Drumragh, Castlederg High, Abbey, Sacred Heart, Integrated Dungannon, Rosses, Royal and Prior, St Eugenes, Finn Valley College, Deele College, Colaiste Colmcille Ballyshannon, St Pats, St Eunans, Scoil Mhuire Buncrana, St Columbas.
