Primary School Cross Country
The numbers were bigger than ever, the weather was fine and organisation was first class. The 10th annual Finn Valley invitational primary schools cross country held Friday October 3rd. Close to 700 children enjoyed their day out and competed with great fervour underlining what is an excellent event. They came from Carndonagh in the north, Annagry in the West and Killybegs in the South and there was the usual welcome mix of East Donegal schools.
Studying results notes that Leanne Kelly, Tooban beat her cousin Arlene Crossan, Lurgybrack; Jade O'Donnell, Annagry stayed out in front of Tara Kate Harley Scoil Mhuire, Letterkenny; Conor Morrison Gael Scoil, Letterkenny fought off the challenge of Jonathan Carlin, Lifford; Pat Loughrey Scoil Iosagain won and led his team to victory under 9. And so it was one of those most enjoyable days that will build and build in popularity and support as there are a vast number of schools out there that simply ignore the opportunity to participate, hard to understand in this day and age.
