Donegal 5K Road Championships

Finn Valley AC hosted the final race n the Brian Mc McCormick sponsored Donegal Grand Prix series, this also being the Donegal 5km Championships. 135 athletes put toe to line, males and female athletes alike, The runaway winner of the race Ciaran Doherty setting the pace throughout the race, closely followed by club mates Gary Crossan and Pauric Mc Kinney. A number of Valley Novice athletes racing well setting new personal bests in the process, Raymond Doherty, John Mc Elhill, Colin Mc Nulty all having exceptional runs. In the ladies section Helena Crossan Inishowen AC came out on top on this occasion with a time of 18.13. In the Men’s team event Letterkenny AC winning with a combined time of 63.19 Finn Valley AC 2nd 69.08 3rd Inishowen AC 73.53 Ladies Team 1st Inishowen AC 57.32, 2nd Finn Valley AC 62.36 3rd Letterkenny AC 70.38. Masters Men,1st Finn Valley AC 50.17, 2nd Letterkenny AC 51.17, 3rd Inishowen AC 54.45. Masters Ladies. 1st Finn Valley AC 59.56, 2nd Inishowen AC 72.13, 3rd Letterkenny AC.

Just to thank all who participated throughout the season, to the race organisers in each of the races the marshals, the people who supplied the food the premises used for the showers and registration, To Brendan Mc Daid and Neil Martin who produced the results in an extremely efficient way. also the sponsor Brian Mc McCormick who sponsored the race series. As the series grows each year and numbers in each of the races swells the sport looks good.
