Strong performances abroad from Valley athletes
Two performances from athletes linked to Finn Valley on different sides of the Atlantic caught the imagination over the weekend . There was Holly Knight who recorded 34-56 for 10k to win a collegiate race in Auburn . Encouraging for her in that at 22 years old she had been out of action for a long period with injury and its just 14 secs outside her pb. Across in England Dempsey Mc Guigan threw a pb 65-60m in fact had 3 pb performances . The meet held at Woodford Green put him on the list of athletes to travel to Moscow for the European Youth olympics a qualification meet for the inaugural world youth olympics in Singapore later this year . Incidentially the other Valley connection with Moscow/Singapore is team manager Bernie Alcorn who has put her usual committed effort into realising a large team to represent Ireland . THe flight indeed no flights issue has this week affected Pauric Mc Laughlin due to fly out to train with Thomas Chamney /David Mc Carthy in Portugal a sojourn which would have set him up nicely for the season ahead his target world steeple junior qualification .Training
at the club is in full swing with first up the Donegal childrens Games May 6th with 40th annual primary schools on May25th/26th . All schools have been notified.
