Collins Smashes Valley 1500m record.

Noel Collins was involved in a really memorable 1500m event promoted by the I M C at Tullamore as an addendum to the Irish schools Saturday . It was a tough tight finish in which 6 athletes dipped under 3-48 secs . THe Finn Valley man came with a storming last 200m to grab third record 3-46..47 a new club record erasing that set by Ian Ward in Belfast 2009 . Coming into the best form of his career the season ahead is most promising . Pauric Mc Laughlin recorded 4 minutes odd in the same event

Top performance in the schools from a Valley perspective was John Kelly silver in the shot 14-26m against a winning 14-95 to a Blackrock student while a pb from the Royal and Prior lad at 41-54m wasnt enough as the Belvedere representative got out to 43-54m . It was an excellent day for Donegal schools and it also marked a world junior Q mark for Darren Mc Brearty in the 1500 I M C race at 3-47-15 . Well done .

The road race Grand Prix season is in full swing with good turnouts in Donegal Town 5k and Dunfanaghy 10k the Runegal event .

Club chairman Patsy Mc Gonagle expressed his thanks midweek to the many club volunteers that turned out to officiate at the annual primary school sports.
