Mc Guigan breaks Celtic record.

Dempsey Mc Guigan continued what has been a record breaking season in winning the Celtic Games hammer with a 67.93m throw a feat that erases the old record of Scottish athlete Chris Bennett from 2006 @ 61.51m . Again he had a steady progressive build up opening on 62.61,a 66.55m effort then came 66.97,67.47,66.42 before unleasing a final mark at the record of 67.93m . Both himself and his younger brother Fellan have had a really impressive season and now Dempsey can look to qualification for the European juniors next season . He was one of only two Ulster winners in this annual Ulster V Scotland ,Wales and the Rest of Ireland . John Kelly got out to 37-20m in the discus for third in an event won at 47-72m to a Welsh athlete but had the consolation of beating Hanlon who had beaten him in the Irish schools .He is of course underage again next year .

With the Summer break almost complete athletes need o begin to get focused once again as training kicks in Tuesday August 24th and details of a weekend training camp are available from Mark Connolly planned for 3rd through to 5th Sept.

Sympathy is extended to Paddy Bond on the death of his father recently. May he rest in peace and to Geraldine Browne nee Dullaghan on the death of her father Johnny.
