Finn Valley Complex

The current Finn Valley Complex boasts a 35m indoor multi-purpose hall, weights room, two football pitches, a warmup area, four changing rooms, a social area, a 50 person ensuite accomodation block, a 1500m jogging trail, a 400m track, and a meeting/function room and state of the art catering facilities.

Finn Valley Mission Statement

Finn Valley AC is a voluntary cross community grouping comprising of volunteers, administrators, governing body representatives, and elements from many sports and social organisations. Formed in 1971 they have a community facility which has cost EUR7million. Situated in Stranorlar in East Donegal. The complex comprises of sports hall, 4 flood lit Astroturf pitches, lecture room, 4 changing facilities, office accommodation, self catering accommodation, completed 400metre flood lit running track, 3 playing soccer pitches, weights room, bar area, with kitchen facilities, 800 metres jogging trail. There are 13 members of staff employed. There is a structured programme of events 7 days a week, which currently includes Athletics GAA, Rugby Gymnastics, Set Dancing, Irish Dancing, Soccer and bowls. Further programmes are being implemented. In addition a voluntary cross border primary and Secondary School athletics programme has developed over many years with 83 primary schools and 23 post primary schools involved in 2003.

Finn Valley AC wish to:

  1. Continue and develop partnerships;

  2. Promote good relationships most prominently in the East Donegal West Tyrone Area but beyond that should resources become available;

  3. Continue to implement coaching / training programme for current volunteers and hence attract additional coaches;

  4. Finn Valley are committed to the code of ethics and good practice for sport for young people based on the national guidelines;

  5. They wish to establish the following:

    • a women's programme;

    • a special needs programme;

    • a toddlers programme;

    • establish an after schools programme;

    • to build on the current sports camps.

  6. They have :

    • sport specific expertise;

    • leadership experience;

    • a proven track record of delivering programmes and building facilities.

Finally, Finn Valley are committed to building the base of human resources available, attracting events to the area and clearly are in the position to offer a wide range of sporting activity both land based and water based. Presently they boost something between 2500 / 3000 recreational visits per week based on seasonal needs.
