|
Last weekend was a quiet weekend on the competition front with all senior veteran and juvenile athletes taking full advantage of the free weekend and training for upcoming competitions. However on the administration side it was a very busy weekend with the AAI conference taking place in Galway. The club wish to congratulate Patsy McGonagle who was elected as Vice President of the AAI and Neil Martin who is elected as Ulster delegate on the executive committee of the AAI. This Sunday the North West 10K takes place in Letterkenny at 3pm. Everyone is encouraged to take part in this event. For all upcoming championships and competitions fixtures lists can be obtained by looking at Finn Valley web site Finnvallyac.com. This site which was prepared by Jonathon Campbell is very interesting giving details of up to date information on club results, records and daily ongoings. Also various links to other sites are given. (Note added by J. Campbell: there are bound to be errors in the website; also there must be suggestions on how you think it may be improved, information you want included, etc. Please send suggestions, errors, even minor typos to jg.campbell@ntlworld.com; you can send email to jc@finnvalleyac.com, but I read that email only once a week. Eventually, all club officials will have an email address "@finnvalleyac.com", but I'm still finding out how to set that up properly.) The club had a very successful coaching meeting last Tuesday night. The coaching structure of the club as now been re-arranged. The club coaches has now been increased to 20 which is the result of the Introductory Coaching course which was held recently. A Level One Coaching Course will now be held in June for all members who have completed their Introductory Course and others who have previously completed this course. The club had an function on Friday night to acknowledge the Finn Valley ladies team who won both the Short and Long Course Cross Country team title also their coach Neil Martin. Presentations were made by Patsy McGinley club president. A great night was had by all. The club wish to sympathize with Clodagh McCool and her family on the death of her grandmother Mrs McGlynn of Curraghamon, Ballybofey. The club also sympathize with the family of Gordon Regan of Tullaghan who died tragically while on holiday. Gordon was a former student of the Royal and Prior in Raphoe and a former member of Finn Valley AC. R.I.P. |
