Finn Valley AC is the undisputed top Ulster Juvenile club for 2002. Valley came out on top in the cross country and indoor championships earlier this year. The great news now is that Valley are also ranked number one in the Track and Field outdoor championships. Points were given for each athlete securing 1st , 2nd or 3rd spot over the two days of Ulster Club Juvenile Championships. Out of 38 clubs involved the top six are 1. Finn Valley 126 points, 2. Letterkenny 105 pts, 3. Shercock 101 pts, 4. Mid Ulster 64 pts, 5. Cranford 61 pts and Regent House 58 pts. For the complete table, click on Ulster Juveniles rankings. Shercock A.C. have complete results of the championships. Team Valley wish to congratulate their juveniles and coaches on their work and wish them continued success as training and competitions continue. Preparation is now in full swing for all juveniles competing in All Ireland Track and Field Championships. Training continues for these athletes every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.30pm and Sunday morning 10.30am. All athletes must prepare for these championships and any athlete who fails to attend training without excuse will not be allowed to compete. Valley's Bosco Reid Wins Gold and Silver Valley's Bosco Reid was in action last Saturday competing in Golden Four competition in Antrim. Bosco preparing for upcoming Veteran championships competed well in the senior men's shot finishing 1st with a throw of 11.53. Bosco also finished 2nd in the Hammer and Discus. Last Sunday Barry McGill finished 4th in the Junior 10,000m Walk. This now gives Barry a marker and he can work to improve his time in this event. A number of our senior athletes are preparing for All Ireland Track and Field Senior Championships in two weeks time. Catriona Mc Granaghan competed in 800m on 19th June in Santry as part of the Irish Milers club and was happy with her time of 2.11 as she prepares for the championships. Aghyaran 5K Road Race The Donegal Grand Prix Road season is well under way. A number of Valley athletes are competing very well. In Aghyaran Charlie Gallagher was Valley's leading runner in 2nd place 15.59. Pat Hegarty was 5th overall and 1st over 40 (16.38). Noleen Porter was Valley's leading lady finishing 1st (17.49). Neil Martin coming back into the racing scene was 1st over 45 (19.54). Nancy McNamee 2nd senior lady (21.20) and Mary Martin was 2nd veteran (23.44). Jim Hynes was 1st O60 (20.19). Pat McCrudden 3rd O 50(23.45) and Michael Kelly 2nd O 45 (23.45). Lifford 5K Road Race Lifford held their annual 5K last Friday night. The club welcome the return of Kevin Holion who made his debut after injury finishing 3rd (15.53). Dominic Bonner was 1st Veteran O40 (15.41) and Pat Hegarty 2nd (16.02). Anthony Murray 1st O 50 (17.31). Margaret Synott was 3rd senior lady (19.23). Nancy McNamee 2nd vet O35 (21.02). Bridget McGlynn 1st Vet O 45 (21.29), Margaret Murray 2nd (21.53) and Mary Martin 3rd (22.24). Well done to all.
