Kevin Holian's continued success in Donegal Grand Prix

Cuisine de France Grand Prix continued last week in Letterkenny and Valley's Kevin Holian continued his success finishing 2nd just 2 seconds behind the winner Pauric McKinney in a time of 15.27.3. Margaret Synott continued her improvement and won the senior ladies in a seasons best time of 17.41. Valley's Evelyn Crampsie was 2nd lady. Pat Hegarty won the veteran section in a time of 15.40 with Bernard McCabe 2nd (17.30). The Murray couple Anthony and Margaret continued their winning ways with Anthony taking the O50 section and Margaret O45 section with Mary Bond getting the 2nd spot and Mary Martin 3rd. Neil Martin and Paddy Bond also competed. The next and concluding series will be on Sunday 22nd September.

Leamington Grand Prix of Race Walking

Next weekend Jeff and Yvonne Cassin, Barry and Anne McGill and Gesilda Penrose will be travelling to England to compete in the Leamington Grand Prix of Race Walking. Finn Valley wish them all the best of luck.

Young Athletes Function

The club are holding a function on Sunday the 15th September. This will be a family celebration to acknowledge that success of the young athletes last season and it is imperative that all parents attend with their children.

Forthcoming CC Season

Training is now well underway for up coming cross-country and indoor events. Valley are very happy with the news that both underage juvenile cross-country championships will be held in Roscommon and Ballinasloe this year.

The Donegal Cross-Country fixture list will soon be available. Also the Donegal Primary Schools Cross-Country will be held towards the end of September. All schools will be notified shortly of the date.

Odds and Ends

Noeleen Porter had a good race when she competed in the Flora Light 5k which was held in High Park, London. Noeleen finished 23rd in a time of 17.54.

A very successful coaches meeting was held last week and all coaches have now been given their groups and events. The club still welcomes any person who wishes to get involved with the workings of the club.

The club congratulates Bernie O Callaghan in his appointment to position of Deputy Technical Director to European Masters Association.

The next club meeting will be held on Thursday night 12th September at 9pm.
