Final Race in Donegal Grand Prix

The final of the Cuisine de France grand prix series was held last Sunday in Letterkenny. The 5k was held on a flat course with 58 starters. Finn Valley had a number of athletes competing.

Kevin Holian continued his good road season finishing 3rd overall behind Gary Crossan and Pauric McKinney. Noeleen Porter was in great form and like Kevin continued her season's success by winning the ladies section with club mate Margaret Synott who is impoving with every race finishing 2nd. Noeleen and Margaret along with Nancy McNamee and Maeve McElroy won the ladies team section. Valley men were second team. The Veteran men proved to be as strong as ever with Dominick Bonner winning the O-40 category and Anthony Murray O-50. Valley veteran men won the team title. Also up for decision was the individual winners for the overall series. Valley's Margaret was the Senior Lady winner. Nancy McNamee Veteran Lady and Bernard McCabe Veteran male winner. Congratulations to all.

Finn Valley wish to congratulate Simon Ward who was part of the Irish Army team who competed in Poland in European Army cross-country. The Irish team finished third. Well done to all.

Lee Lindsey from Muff and at present a student at University College Dublin recently won two bridge race which was held in Derry recently. Lee is a new comer to the racing scene and will make a good impact for Finn Valley's Novice cross-country team this year.

Finn Valley now await new fixture list for upcoming championships. The Donegal County Board met on Monday night and the new list was made.

A large turnout is expected at the Finn Valley center on Thursday 26th September as they host the Primary Schools cross-country championships for under 9, 11 and 13. Secondary School finals will also be hosted by Finn Valley on Tuesday 1st October. Races will be for 1st 2nd and 3rd years.

Annual General Meeting

Finn Valley will be holding their A.G.M. on Monday 30th September at 8pm. All members, parents and anyone interested in getting involved with the club are asked to attend.

The club wish to thank Lilian Douglas and all at Finnvalley.ie for their continued support of Finn Valley AC. Their support of linking FV to their site is much appreciated.

Club membership is now due.

Training continues at the club for all athletes Tuesday and Thursday night at 7.30pm and Sunday morning at 10.30am.
