Athletes and officials look back on a great year for the club.

Finn Valley's juvenile athletics are now on their Christmas break after having a very successful cross-country season. The season ended with a very enjoyable children's Christmas Party on Thursday night. The club wish to thank all who organised the party and to Pauric for the music.

A lovely dinner was organised on Saturday night for all club committee members, workers, parents and members. Patsy McGonagle club chairman thanked everyone for their help especially the coaches whose work and commitment to the young athletics is unique. The club is now ranked number two in Ireland behind Dundrum South Dublin who have a massive population and with work Valley can strive to take the number one spot.

Christine Feely had a number of athletes competing in Donegal town on Saturday in the Sports hall athletes. Our athletes competed very well and results will be given later.

Letterkenny AC held a very successful Turkey Trot last Sunday. Valley's Kevin Holian was the winner in an excellent time of 15.05. Other Valley competitors were Pat Hegarty, Bernard McCabe, Anthony and Margaret Murray, Michael Kelly, Patsy and Enda Doherty, Alan Kavanagh, Kay Byrne, Noeleen Porter, Mary Martin, Drew Doherty, Frank Chaney, Gerard Bogle, Barry Harron, and Paddy Bond. Official results and placings to be given later.

A four mile cross-country race will be held in Gransha Hospital, Derry on Saturday 21st December. All Valley senior and veteran athletes are asked to compete. Teams of 15 to score.

A reminder to all athletes, fun runners, walkers, families etc that the Finn Valley annual Stephen's day 5K handicapped will be taking place again this year. All monies go to charity and is a day to be enjoyed by all

Trials will be held to select Donegal teams for juvenile relay cross-country U12 and U14 teams on 5th January. These trails will take place before Ulster senior cross-country championships which will be held at the Finn Valley center. Teams selected will go on to compete in the All Ireland relay cross-country championships to be held later in Killybegs.

Finn Valley wish all members, athletes at home and abroad, parents and friends a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
