Dominic Bonner strikes gold at Stormont International.

Congratulations to Dominic Bonner on his great victory at the Stormont Cross-Country. Dominic won the 6K Masters race in a time of 20.08, eight seconds clear of Deon McNeill, Newcastle A.C. with Richard Sales from Norwich A.C. in 3rd on 20.33. This was a great victory for Dominic in a very high class international field. Dominic had previously finished 2nd on two occasions and 3rd once in this race and well deserved his victory. To put icing on the cake Dominic led his Finn Valley Team to victory as well with great running from Pat Hegarty, 13th 21.22, Joe Brennan 17th 21.29 and Bernard McCabe 28th 22.05. This was the 6th team victory in a row for the Finn Valley Men's Masters team and they now look forward to contesting the National Masters Championships at the end of the month.

U17 Boys

We had two athletes competing in the U17 6K race; Alan Cavanagh finished a very creditable 28th in 22.22 with Maurice Boyle 45th in 24.12.

Senior Women

Catriona McGranaghan competed in the Senior Women's 6K race which also had a very high class international field and finished 35th in 23.31.

Winter Track & Field Meeting Next Weekend

Finn Valley A.C. host the 2nd Winter Track & Field Meeting on Saturday at 1 p.m. All welcome, enter on the day.

Ulster Cross-Country Next Weekend

On Sunday Finn Valley host the Ulster Senior and Masters Cross-Country. Trials will also be held on Sunday for the National Juvenile County Cross-Country Relay teams.

International Selection

Congratulations to club athlete Kieran McConnell who has been selected for the Cardiff Indoor International on 22nd January. Congratulations also to club coach Bernie Alcorn who has been selected as women's team coach for the Irish Team at the Cardiff Indoor International and to Patsy McGonagle who is the Irish Team Manager for the Celtic International Cross-Country also in Cardiff on the 23rd January.
