Results from Cardiff and Athlone
Cardiff Indoor InternationalCongratulations to Kieran McConnell, competing for Ireland, who finished 2nd in the Junior Men's Shot Putt (13.49m) at the Cardiff Indoor International last Saturday. Kieran was in a battle with Matthew Evans from Wales and in the end there was only 50 cm in it with both young men well ahead of the rest of the opposition.
Cardiff Cross-CountryThe Celtic International Cross-Country was on Sunday also in Cardiff where local Stranorlar man Gary Murray had a superb run finishing 2nd in the men's race. Young Joanne English from Letterkenny also did very well finishing 8th in the Junior girl's race.
National Juvenile Inter-County Cross-Country RelaysWe had several athletes involved in the National X-C relays which were held in Athlone. Aoife Gallagher competed in the U12 Girls relay which finished 5th. Mark Bonner and Ryan McNulty were unlucky to miss out on medals with Donegal finishing in 4th place. In the U14 boys Pauric McLaughlin and Daniel McLaughlin both played a big part in their County team winning the Bronze medals. In the U14 Girls Niamh Doherty, Eilish Patton, Karen Ferguson and Gemma Vance all Finn Valley made up the County team and put in a great performance to take the Bronze medals behind County Clare and County Galway.
SportshallLaura Feely (Shot) and Aileen Brennan (High Jump) have both been picked for the Donegal Sportshall team with more of our athletes down as possibles.
This weekendAaron McMenamin, Jodie Stewart and Aileen Brennan will travel to Nenagh this weekend to contest the National Juvenile Combined Events Championships and the Masters athletes will also contest the National Masters Cross-Championships.
