Finn Valley Women Win All-Ireland Short Course Championships.Congratulations to our women's team who retained their National Senior Title at the Short Course Cross Country Championships in Dublin at the weekend. Noeleen Porter had a terrific run finishing in 3rd place and was delighted with her first National individual cross country medal at Senior level. Noeleen led her team of Catriona McGranaghan who had an excellent run finishing 7th, Clodagh McCool also running very well over the shorter distance in 10th and Kay Byrne winning her 14th National Senior Cross Country Championship medal in 19th place. Teresa McGloin also ran very well to finish in 40th place. This was a great achievement for all the girls and particularly Team Captain Kay Byrne who has scored on every winning team since 1989. Finn valley won on 39 points from Sportsworld on 48 points and Raheny on 59 points. Our men's team also did very well finishing 6th team led home by Kevin Holian in 26th, Dominic Bonner 32nd, Kieran Carlin 41st, Charlie Gallagher 51st, Gerard Bogle 60th, John McGlinchey 61st, Frank Chaney 63rd and Bernard McCabe 72nd.
Isle of ManAnn McGill competed in the Isle of Man International Race Walking Grand Prix and finished an excellent 2nd place in the 10K in a time of 59.58. This was an excellent performance by Ann in very windy conditions.
Ballycotton 10Jamie Lewis had a very good run in the Ballycotton 10 mile race finishing in 9th place.
Irish Schools ChampionshipsWe had a number of athletes involved in the Irish Schools Championships in Dungarvan on Saturday. Pauric McLaughlin was on the St. Eunan's College Silver medal winning team in the Junior boys race which was won in great style by his schoolmate Dan King. Breda McGinty finished 12th in the Intermediate Girls race despite an atrocious first lap which seen her back in 30th position. Breda did remarkably well in the second lap to work her way up to 12th place and earn her a subs place on the Irish Schools team for the Schools International. Breda led her team of Shauna Guthrie, Maeve Culhane and Fionnuala Bruton to 5th place. Enda Doherty ran well in the Intermediate Boys race and was part of the St. Eunan's team which finished 5th. Nikki Alcorn was on the Loreto team which finished 6th in the Senior girls race and Alan Cavanagh put in a great individual performance in the Senior boys race.

European Indoor ChampionshipsCongratulations from all at Finn Valley A.C. to David Gillick 400m and Allastair Cragg 3000m on winning two Gold Medals for Ireland at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid.
