Noeleen Porter 3rd in British Masters

Congratulations to Noeleen Porter on her Bronze medal in the over 40 category of the British Masters Cross Country Championships which were held this year in Bangor. Noeleen had a terrific run finishing 5th overall in the race but 3rd in her category.

National Senior Relays

Very well done to Nikki Alcorn and Fionnuala Bruton on their excellent performances in the National Senior Indoor Relay Championships in Nenagh where they were part of the Donegal team which won the Bronze medals in the 3 x 1000m Walk. This should give both girls great confidence for their races in the Juvenile Indoor Championships on April 2nd which will also be held in Nenagh.

Sportshall

Finn Valley had three athletes on the Donegal teams who were very successful at the Ulster Sportshall Finals this week. All four Donegal teams repeated last years feat and qualified for the British finals in Birmingham which take place this weekend in an unfortunate class with our Juvenile Indoor Championships. Aaron McMenamin put in a great performance in the High Jump improving his p.b. from 1.40m to 1.50m to win the competition and narrowly missed setting a new Sporthall record. Laura Feely continued her successful career with Sporthall winning the U13 Shot, this will be Laura's 3rd time to represent Ulster in Birmingham. Aileen Brennan is our third athlete on the team representing Donegal and Ulster in the High Jump having jumped 1.35m in the Ulster Finals. We wish all three athletes and Laura's mum, Christine who is one of the Team Managers, the very best of luck in Birmingham.

Glaslough Harriers Road Races

Finn Valley had a large onumber of athletes competing in the Glaslough Road Races which attracted large numbers. There were thirteen clubs competing with Glaslough winning the overall and Finn Valley in 2nd place. Top individual performances came from Jonathon Carlin 4th in the U9s, Rebecca Ward 1st in U11s, Niamh Doherty winning the U13s with Karen Ferguson 2nd and Emily Murphy 3rd. Eilish Patton 7th in the U15s and another 1, 2, 3 in the U15 boys race won by Ian Ward, Darren McGlinchey 2nd and Aiden Connolly 3rd. Clodagh McCool looked very impressive winning the Senior Women's 3K leading her team of Gloria Devenney and Noreen Bonner to 2nd place just one point behind Armagh. Kieran Carlin was 6th in the Senior Men's race.
