World Masters Championships

Ann McGill, Dominic Bonner and Jim Hynes are in San Sebastion, Spain at present competing in the World Masters Championships. Ann has already competed in the 5K Walk and finished 11th in the O/45 category in a time of 29.36.79 but her stronger event, the 20K Walk, will take place today (Thursday).

Dominic Bonner and Jim Hynes also have one event completed with Dominic finishing an excellent 12th in the Cross Country (O/40) and Jim 21st in the O/65 category. Both will also contest the 10,000m. We wish them all the best of luck.

Congratulations to Jamie Lewis who won the Welsh 10K Championships at the weekend. This was a great achievement for Jamie.

Brockagh Four Mile Grand Prix Race

Well done to Pat Hegarty who won the O/40 section of the Brockagh 4 mile race on Saturday night. Margaret Murray is coming back into good form winning the O/45 Womens race with Gloria Devenney 2nd and Mary Martin 3rd. Ian Ward, Darren McGlinchey and Shane Bonner made it a one, two, three in the Junior Men's race.

Golden Cow League

We had four athletes competed in the 3rd round of the Golden Cow League at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast. Victories for Pauric Feely in the Senior Men's Triple Jump, Stewart McClean in the Senior Men's High Jump and also 3rd place in the 400m (51.41) and victory also to Laura Friel in the Senior Womens High Jump (1.50m) and the 200m. Brendan Alexander finished 2nd in the 400 (B) race and recorded a new p.b. although he was disappointed that his event, the pole vault, was not held due to equipment problems at the venue. This was the last Track and Field competition of the season and training for everyone for the winter season will resume on Tuesday, 6th September at 7.30pm.
