Finn Valley Start the Cross country Season on a Winning Note

Donegal Masters and County Even Ages Championships

Finn Valley produced some exciting results at a windy Cranford on the banks of Mulroy Bay.

Dominic Bonner who has proved to be such a boost to club teams in recent years won the county masters leading his clubmate Pat Hegarty across the line and with Gerard Bogle and Mark Connolly on board they were assured of victory over host club Cranford.

In the county even ages the outstanding aspects from a club perspective was U-12 boys led by Mark Bonner, U-14 girls with Niamh Doherty to the fore in what was a Finn Valley 1,2,3,4 with Karen Ferguson, Amy Slevin and Jodie Stewart impacting.

Again of course the U-16 boys did extremely well with Ian Ward leading a great team preformance and with 8 weeks to the Nationals and a continued committment they can improve.

Encouraging was the improved runs by Aidan Connolly, Ryan McDaid, Shane Bonner and Dermot Brennan.

Joint Club Captain at this level Enda Doherty won the U-18 title while Rebecca Ward was again exceptional winning the U-12 title.

We now look forward to a period of intence trainig as the scene moves to the U;ster Championship for our young athletes at Scotstown and Ballyclare.

Welcome back to Jamie Lewis preparing for the Dublin City Marathon in France at altitude. Jamie needs 2hrs 18mins in this event to make the Welsh team for the Commonwealth Games.

The Donegal Senior is now confirmed for November the 6th at the Finn Valley for 12 noon.

Letterkenny defend the mens title while Finn Valley defend the womens team title.
