Success in Scotland

The Scottish Indoors Athletics Championships dominated the local scene last weekend with nine athletes and three coaches flying over to participate.

The medal return was a silver for Paul Doherty in what was an all Irish final.

The winner was O'Cathain, Roscommon 8:66, with Paul recording a new P.B. on 8:80 with Donegal Town athlete Christopher Britton 3rd.

Paul Doherty is a positive young athlete who has maintained a keen interest since his primary school days and is now being awarded for his commitment.

The other medal came early Saturday per Laura Feely in the shot with a bronze medal and a P.B. as well. Well done Laura.

The only other athletes to get near the medal podium were Mark Bonner 5th, U13 boys 800 meters, and Matthew Kelly, 6th U15 shot.

The club are grateful to Noreen Bonner, Brid McMenamin and Christine Feely who acted as team leaders. No doubt the team will have gained from the experience.

National Masters This Weekend

This weekend the big challenge is the National Masters in Cork. The big question is can they turn Ulster gold into national gold and retain the the national team title. We wish them well on the long journey south.
