Valley Host Successful Indoor Championships

Finn Valley hosted the Ulster winter indoor championships on Sunday. The programme centered around the U-12 age group, all relays and 1500m. races for 16-19 age groups. The local organising committee did a great job, special thanks to Peader McGranaghan who prepared the track, Grainne McGowan who looked after refreshments for all officials and of course the usual loyal group of officials: Noreen Bonner, Neil Martin, Sean Carlin, Christing Feely, Bernie Alcorn, Michael Kelly, Martin Gormely, Brendan McDaid, Barbara Holmes, Patsy McGinley and Seamus McGranaghan.

The outstanding return from Valley was Roisin Ni Chuirrean 60m., high jump U-12 plus gold relay with Aisling Gallagher, Cheyanne Griffin and Rebecca Ward on board. Ryan Bonner was busy in the boys' section with medals in 60M. and 600M, otherwise good returns from Breda McGinty, Darren McGlinchey, Aiden Connolly, Pauric McLaughlin at 1500m. Many others excelled leaving a large squad travelling to the nationals.

This Friday evening the newly re-furbished club centre will be opened at 8p.m. In attendance will be Ms. Mary Coughlan T.D. Minister for Agriculture and Mr. Pat 'the Cope' Gallagher, Junior Minister for Transport and other local politicians and representatives of other local organisations. An invitation goes out to all club senior members, athletes and parents to attend. Refreshments available.

Sympathy is extended to club trustee and valued member James Gibbons on the recent death of his mother, may she rest in peace.

Finally well done to Kevin Holian winner of Cashelard 5K on Sunday with Dominic Bonner 3rd. The North West 10K was launched Tuesday night and its website address is www.northwest10K.com
