Top Club Award for Valley

Finn Valley underage athletes topped the ranking list over two days
cross-country which culminated in Milford on Sunday in ideal conditions
with an enthusiastic crowd in attendance. The U16 girls, led by Niamh
Doherty, struck gold as did the U12 boys, led by Georgie Kelly, Paul
Smith and the Carlin cousins Matthew and Jonathan from Crossroads.
Rebecca Ward had too much in reserve winning the U12 girls from the
Cranford duo of Roberts and Barrett. Ian Ward had a real go in the U18
boys event; he was caught in the final 2K but he rallied to win from
the determined Dan King with Shane Bonner consistent throughout. We
need stronger contributions from Aiden Connolly and Ryan McDaid.
Pauric McLaughlin from Convoy led throughout a positive run in the U16
boys being just outrun by the pace of Adam Friel in the last 100m. The
men's masters team led by Kieran Carlin won their team county award.

Next cross-country outing for underage is two weeks away in Killybegs
Ulster U11, 13, 15, 17, 19 while the Donegal Fit 4 Life league begins
at 11.30 a.m. Sunday from Letterkenny I.T. This is a ladies only event.
An athletics Leader Coaching course will be held at
Finn Valley on October 28th. This is aimed at coaches, parents and
leaders dealing with 7-12 year olds.
