European Club Championships

Last weekend Valley's senior ladies travelled to Jean in Spain to compete in the European club championships. Weather was their first obstacle Neil Martin and his team had to overcome before arriving in Jean. The ladies finished 10th team overall with Noeleen Porter Valley's lead runner in 30th Catriona McGranaghan 31st and Kay Byrne 34th.

National Masters Indoors

James Gibbons and Donal Reid flew the Valley colours at the National Masters Indoor Championships in Nenagh last Saturday. James was delighted with his performance in the 3000m Walk finishing 2nd in a time of 12.47, 11 seconds faster than last year. A good opening to his Walking season. Donal Reid likewise performed well finishing 2nd in the High Jump.

Juveniles Ulster Indoors

This weekend will be a busy competition weekend with our Juveniles travelling to Antrim to compete in the Ulster Indoor championships. This will also be selection for athletes to compete in the All Ireland National Championships.

All Ireland Intermediate and Masters

Our senior and master athletes will be travelling to Dublin on Sunday to compete in the All Ireland Intermediate and Masters cross-country championships to be held in Phoneix Park. Our men won this team title for the first time last year and are confident of taking it back to Finn Valley this year. Our Master ladies have won this title on a number of occasions the first year been 1992 with the team of Mary Martin, Rosaleen McGonagle, Noreen McGonagle and Jean Harron making history for team Valley. Valley's ladies are confident of regaining this title once again for the club.

In the Intermediate section Valley have won this event on three occasions and are confident of repeating this performance again. Previous individual winners for Valley were Kevin Gill and Mark Morgan. This year the Valley team will be lead by Jerome Brooks whom Valley are confident can follow their footsteps. A GAA coaching seminar will be held at Finn Valley this weekend. A number of distinguish speakers will be in attendance.
