9.30-10.00am. Registration and opening of course Patsy McGonagle manager of the Irish Olympic Athletics team in Sydney 2000/Donegal Person of the Year will officially open the course. 10.00-10.30am. General warm up All athletes will participate in an 'active/dynamic warm up' followed by general mobility/stretching. 10.30-12.00. Event Specific No. 1 The athlete will select an individual event and will work with an individual coach.The emphasis during the session will be on technique/skill and general conditioning. 12.15-1.00pm. Video Presentation and Discussion Topic: From 13 to 18 the important athletic development years. 1.00-2.00pm. Lunch Athletes are advised to bring a packed lunch; light refreshment facilities are available at the Finn Valley Centre. 2.00-3.00pm. Event Specific No 2 Again athletes will select an individual event and work with an individual coach. The emphasis will again focus on technique/skill and general conditioning. 3.00-3.45pm. General/Specific Conditioning Athletes will be introduced to a general conditioning session which will include exercises from the following areas [a] Plyometrics/bounding; [b] Medicine ball work; [c] Hurdle drills; and [d] local body circuit exercises. 3.45-4.15pm. General discussion, evaluation and conclusion |
