The snnual Boxing Day event has once again provided the opportunity for the people of The Donegal Community to meet up, discuss the year gone past and reunite with old friends, work off the turkey and support a worthy cause. The damp conditions proved not to be deterrent as the numbers rose to a new high of a hundred and twenty entrants. With a sixteen minute handicap, present form went out the window as everyone was in with a fighting chance, as the overall winner 11 year old Aoife Whelan was soon to prove. After the first five or six finishers the Seiko timers would come under pressure with upwards on eighty athletes bearing down on the finish line. One by one they were checked through the finish pen and the counting began. The walkers who are growing in numbers, play an important part in this event and we encourage further participation from the general public in the future. With all the funds collected on the day going to Dystonia Appeal the participants deserve a warm thank-you and we look forward to seeing you in 2004. (Remember also to bring a friend.) The total proceeds came to 895 Euro. WELL DONE!
