Reebok Challenge Series at Stormont

Several of our Senior and Veteran athletes made the journey to Stormont last Saturday to run in the Reebok Challenge Cross Country series.

Catriona McGranaghan running on the Irish team had a very good run finishing in 28th place in a top class field. Kieran Carlin also fared well in the men's international race finishing a very creditable 33rd in a race won by Paul Tergat.

Dominic Bonner was back in excellent form in the masters race finishing 3rd with Mark Connolly also running well in 17th, Bernard McCabe 29th and Seanie McDevitt 79th.

National Indoor Combined Events at Nenagh

Seventeen of our juvenile athletes are heading to Nenagh this weekend to compete in the National Indoor Combined events.

Lorcan McMenamin, Gavin Carlin, Pauric McLaughlin, Matthew Kelly, Christopher O'Leary, Laura Feely, Jodie Stewart will be competing in the U14 age group.

Ryan McDaid, last year's U/14 Champion in this event, Diarmuid Fullerton, Ciara Hegarty, Laura Friel, and Ciara Gallen will be competing in the U16 age group and Joe McGinley, Mark McGowan, Stefan Connolly, Maurice Boyle and Geraldine Kelly will be competing in the U18 age group. Coaches travelling with the athletes are Christine Feely, Bernie Alcorn and Sean Carlin.

The bus will be leaving the Finn Valley Centre at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday returning late Sunday night.

Training

Training is back in full swing again with plenty of competition in the near future including the National Juvenile Cross-country relays and B Championships in Athlone on the 25th January, part of the Ulster Juvenile Indoors are to be held in the Odessey, Belfast on the 14th and 15th February with the Ulster Juvenile Indoor relays and remaining individual events to be held in Derry on the 21st February. The Scottish indoors will be held in Glasgow on the 28th and 29th February.
