Finn Valley Women Win the Double at National C-C Championships

Finn Valley's Senior Women's team achieved a fantastic double this Cross-Country season when they won the Short Course National Cross-Country Championships last weekend. This team had already won the National Inter-Club Title and earned the right to represent Ireland in the European Champions Cup next year in Portugal. This is a great achievement and a great way to finish a very successful Cross-Country season for the club. Clodagh McCool, who prefers the shorter distance, had a great run in 6th place, closely followed by Noeleen Porter 7th, Catriona McGranaghan in 9th and Kay Byrne in 11th completing the victorious scoring team. Noreen McConigley also had a strong run in 41st place. Finn Valley won on 33 points from DSD on 47 points and Tullamore on 75 points. Congratulations once again also to coach Neil Martin.

Senior Men

While things were going well with our Women's team unfortunately bad luck struck the men's team and robbed the club of a very likely double. Barry Harron, one of our leading runners, was struck down with flu the day before the race and would without doubt have made a huge impact on the overall results had he been able to run. However, such is the nature of sport and our men will have to wait for their chance on another outing. Despite the absence of Barry our team still finished 4th with Kieran Carlin in 19th, Kevin Holian 21st, Dominic Bonner 37th and Conal McBride 48th. Congratulations to Letterkenny A.C. on winning the title.
