National Senior Silver Medal for Nikki in Nenagh

Congratulations to Nikki Alcorn on winning her first National Senior medal at the All-Ireland Indoor Relay Championships in Nenagh last weekend. Nikki who is still only 15 won her first Senior medal as part of the Donegal 3 x 1000mW team. Gabriel O'Donnell from Cranford A.C. who broke the U/19 individual 1500m Walk record two years ago in Nenagh led the team off and handed over to Nikki who herself was the individual National 1000m Indoor Champion U/15. Nikki put in a great performance and handed over to the experienced Bernie O'Callaghan, Killybegs, a renowned International walker, to take the Silver medals behind Co.Cavan with Co. Clare in Bronze medal position.

Gerard O'Callaghan

Good luck to former Finn Valley athlete Gerard O'Callaghan from Castlefin, now living in London who is taking his place on the starting line of what is dubbed the toughest foot race on earth the Le Marathon De Sables across the Sahara desert. The race which starts on April 11th and cover a total distance of 150 miles over 6 days with the longest leg being 50 miles. Gerard is doing this in aid of the charity Aware which is a support group for people who suffer from depression and would appreciate any sponsorship big or small for this very worthy charity. Gerard maybe contacted at gerry.o'callaghan@csfb.com to donate or to wish him well.

Sympathy

The club extends sincere sympathy to the Geary family on the tragic death of 18 year-old Brian last weekend. The Geary family have been strongly associated with the club for many years.
