International Call Ups for Clodagh McCool, Catriona McGranaghan and Jeff Cassin

Congratulations to Clodagh McCool and Catriona McGranaghan who have been selected on the Irish Senior Team for the upcoming Ekiden Road Relays in Brussels. Clodagh and Catriona will travel to Brussels this weekend as part of the Irish Team. This is a just reward for their successful Cross-Country season when both girls were members of the winning Finn Valley Senior Women's teams in both the long course and short course National Cross-Country Championships. This is Clodagh's first Senior International vest and she is looking forward to the challenge. Catriona has, of course, been on many Irish teams and is an experienced international athlete.

Congratulations also to Jeff Cassin who has been selected on the Irish Team for the 21st IAAF World Race Walking Cup. This will be a very important race for Jeff as he is chasing the Olympic A qualifying time of just under 4 hours. Jeff's time at present is 4 hours 1 minute for the 50K and he is certainly capable of achieving the qualifying time. This race will take place in Naumberg, Germany on the 1st May. We wish him the very best of luck.

Easter Sunday Run

Kevin Holian and Charlie Gallagher were the leading runners in a road-race held in Letterkenny on Easter Sunday.

Killybegs, Easter Monday

Finn Valley won both the Senior Men and Senior Women's races at the inaugural Willie O'Malley Memorial Cup (for Men) and the Con Gillespie Cup (for Women) which were held in Killybegs on Easter Monday. Charlie Gallagher won the individual men's race leading his team of Joe Brennan, Brian Patton and Francis Lafferty to victory. Breda McGinty won the women's 5K race leading her team of Shauna Guthrie and Maeve Culhane to victory. There were also a number of strong performances from our athletes in the under-age races.
