National relays

The National Senior and Masters Track and Field Relay Championships were held at Sligo's new track last weekend. Finn Valley had athletes involved with both club and county teams with great success.

In the inter-county senior championships 3 x 1600m, Donegal had A and B teams involved with the A team winning the Gold medals and the B team secured the Bronze medals behind Meath. James Gibbons and Anne Mc Gill were members of the Gold winning team along with Brendan Boyce from Milford A.C. Nikki Alcorn and Fionnuala Bruton were on the Bronze winning team along with Bernie O Callaghan, Killybegs.

More medals were to follow in the senior championships with Bronze in the 3 x 5k team event with great performances from Kieran Carlin, 4th, Charlie Gallagher, 6th and Kevin Holian in 9th place.

Bronze medals also went to the senior women's 3 x 800m team with great runs from Breda McGinty, Nikki Alcorn and Maeve Culhane.

In the Masters Championships Dominic Bonner had a great run winning the 3000m in 9min 45secs leading his team of Gerard Bogle, 4th and Pat McIlroy 6th to the team victory.

AAI games

The AAI games were held on Sunday also in Sligo with some good performances from our athletes. Anne McGill and James Gibbons were both 5th in their respective walks. Catriona McGranaghan competed in the 3000m where she finished in 8th position with a time of 10mins.21secs.

Fixtures

On Saturday 5th June the Irish Schools finals takes place in Tullamore. Good luck to all our athletes competing for their respective schools.

On Sunday 6th June the Donegal track and field championships part 2 takes place at Letterkenny track beginning at 11.30 AM.

On Wednesday 9th June the Donegal Primary schools track and field championships takes place at the Finn Valley centre.
