Collins Rewrites Junior Record

What a week for Donegal athletics with the selection of 2 local athletes to the Olympic team, Mark English runs a whooping 1.45.77 for olympic B standard, Karl Griffin sets new national youth 800m record ,and across in the States Tori Pena again clears an A standard indeed she is the most consistent Irish athlete out there getting the standard this time 4.50 winning the event at a meet in Culla Vista. Her programme in coming weeks is beginning this Thursday at the Olympic training Centre,June 2nd Mt Sac,June 7th Olympic Training Centre, and possibly another meet June 14th .In Koblenz ,Germany Thursday evening Sarah Collins got into her first serious meet of the season returned a remarkable 16.41.69 a new national junior mark but she needed 16.40 for world junior Q mark . Always remember she is still only 17 yrs old and has just completed her exams . Next up a 3k in AAA in Bedford .

Kieran Carlin won the Finn Valley creche 5k Sunday morning in serious hot conditions yet 230 turned out well done all .
Therefore if it were to be suggested that in this part of the world the 'champion' sport is athletics you would imagine it would be hard to argue with it .
