Fighting Performance by Valley @ National Novice X Country

AS Ulster champions obviously the Finn Valley mens squad were going to be in the mix at national level in Dundalk Sunday . Yes they battled to exhaustion were in the frame throughout but in vain finishing a brave 6th team club team but did help put Donegal in the bronze inter county medal position . That scoring county team Karol Duggan 15th 19.52 hes from Lac and then came 5 Valley lads all under 21 minutes Mark Mc Paul 18th 20.00,Dermot Mc Elchar 27th 20.13,James Mc Fadden 36th 2024,John Mc Enhill 45th 20.32,Dalton Mc Guigan 48th 20.34,Shane Mc Nulty 53rd 20.44 and Seamus O Donnell 20.59 . Team club score 1 Clonliffe 37pts.Derry TC 47 North Belfast 98 pts 6th Finn Valley 126pts . County result reads Dublin 98,Antrim 186 and Donegal 189.

In the womens novice Stacey Dolan was the leading Valley athlete the Aghyaran girl placing 57,Sinead Kenny 78,Michelle Hamilton 95 and Margaret Reid 115  15th team .

Another dissapppointing return in the underage champs withb only a few exceptions most notably Oisin Kelly Cranford winning u 13 boys . Fionn Farren our lead u 11 boy scored on winning Donegal team a fitting reward for this dedicated young Castlefinn boy . TEam 13th .In the u 11 girls Glenswilly girl SarahMc Ginley gave it a right go and while she faded towards the end a great effort 23rd team 10th .The best u 13 girl again Sarah Bradley 26th 10th team and best u 13 boy Elijah Mc Ginley 55th .

Karen Gallagher 29th picked up a medal with the u 17 girls Ulster team well done her and the Valley u 17 boys 10th team Ben Carr much improved the lead youth for FVAC here 20th 5th Ulster athlete across the line .

Its back to the grind of training now with the St Stephens Day 5k 12 noon open to all young and not so always a popular event with an abundance of prizes.
