Finn Valley Success in Ballyshannon and England

This has been a good weekend for Valley athletes as 4 individuals break the tape in pole position.  Patrick Bogue wins 800m in London England this afternoon running at the front all the way to win easy in 2.05.

Also in Chester England Cathal O connor wins his first race since injury in 2007 and it was a 4 x 4 on that occassion . He led from the gun to win in 1.55 which is good running at this early stage. Both athletes had to fight the elements as wind and rain was a factor.Cathal next run next weekend in Cheshire Champs his big target as is the case with Paddy the under 23 nationals .

Meanwhile back home James Speight and Teresa Mc Gloin ran well to win the Junior mens and Sen Womens respectively.
James running 15.41 for 2nd overall behind James Flanagan 15.32. Teresa was an easy winner in 16.51 which is same time as last year. Her good form is returning and watching her in training she certainly has the bite back and is enjoying her running, Mary Connolly equaled her PB running 19.33 to get 2nd.

On a night that many Finn valley vests were at the start line the club had a range of PBs and category winning runs.,

THe tragic death of 25 year old Conor Kelly son of Michael a lifelong member of Valley shocked the entire community . Conor was a stand out young athlete in his younger days as were Geraldine  John,Matthew Clare indeed an enduring memory is of a battle now many years ago between Conor representing St Marys and his cousin Richard Gallen ,St Cairealls the sports stopped to watch them in the high jump . Its a strong positive memory . To Michael and the immediate family we offer our deepest sympathy  and support. May he rest in peace.
