Gerry McDonnell RIP

Gerry was a lifelong advocate and tireless worker for not only his beloved Strabane club but for Ulster athletics initially taking over the responsibility of Ulster secretary from Armagh City Harriers stalwart the late Jim Vallely in a leriod of ncaa stewardship he became secretary of the newly formed Ulster Sports Council in 1967 under the agreement with B L E .

A gentleman who provided the opportunity for so many interested in the sport in Tyrone but into Donegal prior to that county becoming organised in the sixties most notably national champions John Gallagher ,shot and Cyril O Boyle cross country . His burial is at Melmount ,Strabane on Thursday morning after 10 am mass.
