MICHAEL O’DONNELL RIP

I was saddened at the weekend by the news of the passing of someone who I have known since I joined the teaching staff in Glenties Comprehensive School in September 1969. Michael O’ Donnell was a talented athlete and footballer for the school and also for Glenties Athletics Club. He was a member of the Glenties AC team that were third in the first County Senior Cross-Country Championships in 1970 and a member of the Glenties U/17 team that finished second in the County Cross Country League that year. When he finished in school, he concentrated on Gaelic Football and was a member of Glenties Minor, U/21 and senior teams through the years. In later years he was known far and wide as a talented photographer especially at Gaelic Football games  On behalf of all of Us In Donegal Athletics I wish to convey our deepest sympathy to his partner Bernie, brothers Dessie, John, Gerard, Brendan and sisters Ita, Mary, Teresa and Siobhan
