Primary School Athletics

The event kicked off some 42 years ago at Mac Cumhaill Park Ballybofey and has become an intregal aspect of the Summer term in our schools from Malin to Bundoran .The majority of athletes that have acheived not only in athletics but in other sporting disciplines can trace their steps back to this event. 

'Its about getting primary school children involved giving them the opportunity to sample an aspect of the sport an educational opportunity in reality every bit as important as many of the main stream subjects at school from a learning,social and health perspectice ' to quote current Irish olympic team manager Patsy Mc Gonagle who in fact initiated this project all those years ago .

All schools in Donegal have been communicated with and its anticipated that some 80/90 of them will respond . Now its fingers crossed that the current good weather spell will continue .
