Sarah Wins National for Valley

Yes it would - no previous known form, never raced competitively in Ireland and out of the blue as it were she came ran a  controlled race and saw off the challenge of a number of good quality girls from DSD . It was exciting to witness as she went with opening pace went head to head with Siofra O Cleirigh Buttner last years champion and simply changed gears in the final 2k to build an impressive lead . Valley coach Mark Connolly was delighted and excited about the future impact that Sarah can make in the sport . Currently based in Basle where she is completing her Secondary education and onwards from there to University so the future looks bright for this 17 yr old grounded prospect . Swiss championship this weekend her Mock exams completed Thursday and the real deal end of school exams in May .

A period of tough uncomprising training awaits over the Summer in preparation for launching into the competitive world of athletics and top of the agenda at years end European Cross Country champs . Sarah is elegible for junior competition in 2013 . An impressive victory on Sunday is hopefully only the beginning of the journey . Present to witness the event in Santry were Sarahs parents, immediate  family, extended family etc indeed they surely made the biggest din of all on the day fair play to them .
The Valley junior mens team of Dalton Mc Guigan 15th, supported by Mark Bonner,Ryan Porter and Patrick Hynes Foy finished 5th hopefully their involvement in the event a 8k distance will encourage them to re evaluate their approach their ambitions for competing at this level though Dalton is well on his way to making  an impact the other lads need to up the ante otherwise well done on having a go where it really matters at a  national champ.

At the English AAA age group indoor champs Sunday John Kelly was in competition accompanied by Dad John he finished 2nd 15 -35m a national record with the 5kg ball in the shot but he will look to improve further change a few things ,learn to open more aggressively as his opening 3 rounds were poor yet this marks a positive opener considering he is still in a heavy phase of training and will no doubt move to the rotational mode of putting in the period ahead .

Tori Pena cleared 4-30m in a competition in U S held  indoors will not now compete Istanbul but is very positive and continues to target London Q taking in Helsinki Europeans and on the way and is clear in her determination to do so . WE wish her well .

Next up its race 2 Finn Valley Spring Series Sunday 11 am and the question is can we get 500 plus out and about taking part on the day . YES WE CAN as our good buddy Barrack would say finnvalley1@gmail.com to  pre enter and avoid Q on the day . GEt thje word out and help us hit the 500
