Valley Youngsters Beat the Muck

Conditions for the second of the Donegal County Board cross meets were ardous  and trying yet again it threw up 5 gold under age teams in gold plus 4 individuals winning in style different yes but strong displays . There was Zoe Kelly from Killygordon in under 11 simply hit the front and stayed there . Aaron Mc Glynn from Glenfinn came from behind to beat Denver a feat in itself , Leanne Kellly who once again repeated the determination to win to take the 15 girls title practically on home ground here in Burt as she just lives a few miles North in Tooban and finally Mark Bonner Stranorlar who has shown leadereship in recent weeks ran to glory in final phase of 19 boys run .

The meet opened with the novice champs both teams going deservingly to Letterkenny the mens led by Dan King with Christopher ,Paul Mc Glinchey in the scoring positions silver to Valley led by Cathal O Connor and supported by Red Hughs player Gerard Galagher ,Dean Toland and triathlete Alan Mitchell .
The womens saw Joanne English win for Lac her team of Bradley, Mc Fadden and Boyle beating Valleys quartet of Kathleen Mc Nulty, Maeve Mc Grath,Nikita Burke and  Charmain Mc Nulty . THe positive was the large turnout for both events

Underage 5 possibly 6 teams capable of qualifying for nationals from these age divisions the under 11 groupings are special credit to Dermot Mc Granaghan and Christine Feely while Peader has strength in depth under 13 boys while 13 girls need to improve . The performance of Emer Kelly,Laura Kelly from Convoy was a boost 15 girls a boost that Leanne Kelly needs to lead the team out .Mark Bonner and Ryan Porter were always in contention 19 boys and its reassuring for the club to add this team title to the under 18 title won the previous week while the 15 boys are a litttle short of where they ned to be .

All thoughts now switch to October 23rd at home in the Valley the Ulster even ages and novice champs now thats exciting and everything is geared towards a big return on that day.

Sympathy is extended to Shane Mc Bride and his Mum ,Mulreany Terrace a young club member who sadly not only lost his Dad but his grandmother in a matter of days this week . May they rest in peace .
